Rosa Ayala
Westbury High School in Old Westbury, New York.
Rosa hopes to major in Mathematics at Yale University beginning in 2006. She plans to pursue a career in teaching at the high school level and one day become an administrator in a school district similar to the one in which she was raised in Westbury, New York. She wants to help minority communities and provide them with the support they need to be successful.
Danielle Nicole Bargo
Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana.
Danielle plans to attend Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana to study Education and Speech Pathology/Communication Disorders. She aspires to teach elementary age children in a public school environment, preferably in under-served areas where she believes she can make the most difference in the lives of children.
Cara Yvonne Bell
Weldon High School in Weldon, North Carolina.
Cara is involved in many school, church and community activities. She participated as a flag girl in the marching band; was a member of National Honor Society, Praise Dance Team, youth choir and basketball team. Cara plans to attend Campell University, majoring in education. She wants to teach middle school math and hopes to help students succeed in life by inspiring them to not only take their education to the highest possible level but also develop a lifelong love of learning. Education has always been important part of Cara's life and she wishes to instill this concept in the youth of the next generation.
Ericka Ashley Bennett
Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina.
Ericka is a 2005 graduate of Sumter High School. She plans to major in elementary education at Francis Marion University, located in Florence, South Carolina.
Marvis Burns
Cranbrook Kingswood High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Sadiyya Hendrickson
Northeast Health Science Magnet High School in Macon, Georgia.
Sadiyya is active in her school and community through many clubs and organizations and a 2005 graduate of Northeast Health Science Magnet High School. Sadiyya plans to attend Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia to major in mathematics. She aspires to later become an educator overseas.
Erin Lyons
North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Erin has been very involved in her school and her community. She has received many academic and athletic honors since her freshman year in high school, including Honor Roll, Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry Award, Student Athlete Award and Varsity Letter in Track. Erin has balanced her academics with being involved in extra-curricular activities, such as the National Honor Society, Senior Class Board, Track and Girl Scouts. Her commitment to community service has also driven her to volunteer her time in a variety of ways throughout her local community. Erin plans to attend the University of Michigan and expects to earn a degree in Elementary Education.
John Mathis
Eastside High School in Paterson, New Jersey.
John has excelled in academics, earning a GPA over 3.0 and top twenty-five class rank in high school. He has set an example for younger students by helping the poor and homeless in his community. John has been accepted to five colleges including, Morehouse College and Albright College. John believes that despite hardships he faced as a youngster, he could not use this as an excuse for not being successful.
Jarrod Matthei
Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Jarrod is a 2005 graduate of Stranahan High School, a magnet program dedicated to the field of medicine. His goals are to attend the University of Miami and pursue a degree in Medicine/Education. He hopes to become a pediatric oncologist and teach in schools.
Fong Nguyen Tran
Florin High School in Sacramento, California
Fong graduated in the Class of 2005 from Florin High School in Sacramento, California. He plans to attend the University of California, Berkeley in the Spring of 2006 and pursue a career as a philosophy professor.
