On May 17, 1954, at 12:52 p.m. the most important court in the country, the United States Supreme Court, decided to end segregation in public schools. Their decision was based on five court cases. The cases were combined and became known as "Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas." The overall court case was put together by lawyers for the NAACP and was named after one of the plaintiffs, Oliver Brown. Through this case African American parents won the right to equal educational opportunities for their children and all children.
